Abstract: The ultimate goal of teaching is to assist students to become independent and self- regulated learners capable of taking their own decisions. During this process the teacher has to perform many roles with main focus on communication with students. Thus teaching and learning can be considered a communication process. This communication process depends on the effectiveness of interpersonal behaviour of the students and teachers. In the modern educational scenario, technology is playing an important role not only in helping to establish this communication but also to enrich it. This study reports the use of Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) for assessing the studentsâ€™ perceptions of their teachers interpersonal behaviour in a technology- supported science classroom environment in an Indian school. Analysis of data of 705 students from 15 classes provides evidence for reliability and validity of the questionnaire in Indian settings to be used at the secondary level. The same data is also used for studying gender differences and the associations between studentsâ€™ perceptions of their teachersâ€™ interpersonal behaviour with three learner outcomes i.e. their attitude towards science, academic efficacy and academic achievement which have been reported as significant.</summary>

    <summary type="text">Title: EFFECTIVENESS OF ELECTRONIC CLASSROOM FOR TEACHING GENERAL SCIENCE AT SECONDARY SCHOOL LEVEL

Abstract: This paper is based on research to understand the effectiveness of a new teaching methodology i.e. an â€˜Electronic Classroomâ€™ adopted by the teachers in a school for teaching General Science. In this study, a Students Questionnaire on the Effectiveness of Electronic Classroom (SQEEC) was developed and validated on a selected sample of students from a secondary school where this technology has been introduced and implemented for teaching and learning. The paper provides the background information related to the setup of an electronic classroom and its importance in the teaching of General Science. SQEEC was found to be a reliable and valid tool for assessing the effectiveness of the electronic classroom. Results of the study show that the electronic classroom as a methodology was found to be effective for teaching General Science in terms of improved achievement levels of the students and on the basis of their grade and age levels. However, no significant differences were found to exist between different groups of students on the basis of their gender.</summary>
