The present study attempts to examine awareness and socio-economic status of parents in relation to performance of their wards in class-X board examination. Descriptive survey method is used for the collection of the data. The study is quantitative in nature and the sample consists of 200 students (100 males and 100 females) and their parents (father/mother/guardian) have been selected through stratified random sampling technique from 5 Government and 5 Private Higher Secondary Schools, located in Jammu City. In this study, two standardized tools namely Socio-Economic Status Index (SESI) developed by Prof. R.P. Verma, Prof. P.C. Saxena and Dr.(Smt.)UshaMishra(2008)andselfconstructedQuestionnaireon ParentalAwareness(QPA)byKoul(2019)havebeenused.Themainobjectivesofthe study is to study the performanceofstudentsinclass-Xboardexaminationinrelation to their gender,to assess the difference in performance of students in class-X board examination in relation to their type of school,to study the difference in performance of students in class-X boardexaminationinrelationtotheirparentalawarenessandto study the difference in performance of students in class-X board examination in relation to their socio-economic status. Statistical technique t-test is employed for analyzing the data. It is found thatthereisnosignificantdifferenceinperformanceof students in class-X board examination in relation to their gender, in relation to their type of school, in relation to their parental awareness and also in relation to their socio-economic status. But mean values indicate that whether we talk about performance of gender, even if we vocalize about the type of school, if we articulate about parental awareness or we prattle about socio-economic status but here, it is rightly to say on the basis of the mean values that one part needs to be improved more than the other.en_US
