A STUDY OF USE OF MASS MEDIA IN TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS AMONG THE STUDENTS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Abstract

Mass media is atechnologythatisintendedtoreachamassaudience.Itistheprimarymeans of communication used to reach the vast majority of the general public. Mass media is very important for classroom teaching as a part of the process ofinstruction.Themainaimofuse of mass media at secondary level is to improve teaching learning process. In this regard the present study was carried out the use of mass media in teaching learning process inselected government and private schools of Jammu city at secondary level. Data was collected by random sampling technique from 250 students studying at secondary school level in five government andfiveprivateschools.Descriptivesurveymethodwasemployedforthisstudy. For this study, a self-prepared tool namely ‘Use of Mass Media in Teaching Learning Process’ developed by the investigator. The findings of the study revealed that students in both government and private schools are agreed to use mass media in the teaching learning process.Theresultofthestudyshowsthatthereisnosignificantdifferenceintheuseofmass media in the teaching learning process in male and female students. Finally, the study deals with the use of mass media in teaching learning process in relation to their types of school. Result shows that there is a significant difference in the use of mass media in teaching learningprocessofgovernmentandprivateschools.
