dc.description.abstractEducation is a process of human enlightenment and empowerment for the achievement of a better and higher quality of life. A sound and effective system of education results in the enfoldment of learner’s potentialities, enlargement of their competencies and transformation oftheirinterests,attitudesandvalues.Inthiscontext,effectiveteachereducationhasacrucial role. In fact, it becomes a core condition to ensure high proficiency and quality of school education. In other words, effective school education anticipates effective teacher education. The present study attempts to examine the Emotional Intelligence and Adjustment among secondary school students. The study is quantitative in natureandthesampleconsistsof250 students selected through stratified random sampling from 5 Government and 5 Private Secondary Schools. The main objective of the study is to find out significant differences in Emotional Intelligence and Adjustment of secondary school students based on gender and types of school i.e. Government and Private.The study also focuses on the relationship between emotional intelligence and adjustment of secondary school students. In this study, two standardized tools namely Emotional Intelligence Scale developed and standardized by Ankool HydeandDhar(2002)andAdjustmentInventoryScaledevelopedbyPerryJain(1990) have been used. Pearson’s Coefficient of Correlation and t-test have been employed for analyzing the data. It is found that there exist no significant difference in Emotional Intelligence and Adjustment of secondary school students in relation to their gender. There exist significant difference in emotional Intelligence and Adjustment of secondary school students in relation to types of school i.e. Government and Private. However, there exist significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Adjustment of secondary school studentsen_US
